Why We Go Through What We Go Through
Are there ever situations where you just throw your head back and say 'Why does this stuff always happen to me?' We find Paul in this situation here in 2 Corinthians i.
Paul is writing to the church here at Corinth and he says in verse 8 that '[I] would not...have you ignorant of our trouble'. He goes on to talk about how he had despaired of life itself. What a situation to be in. But why would God put Paul through something like this? Lets take a look back. i.3. ...and the God of all comfort (4) Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we mat be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Paul here says that comforts those who are afflicted. Well we know that God is the one who sends the affliction. so what is the purpose? Well, when the Lord comforts us we are able to comfort others in that situation with the same comfort that God has given us.
With this God-given peace we are able to show forth God's comfort to the unbeliever, and broken hearted Christian.
So the next time you have a 'why me moment'. Say a quick prayer, and thank God for the peace that He will give you.
