God's Steadfast Love

I was hurrying to work one early morning and i read Psalm cxxx (130) quickly. My goal was to have great quality time in the Word but not quantity (this rarely if ever works, and i do not recommend it. But at 5 in the morning...) I came across the phrase in verse 7 "O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption.". What caught my attention was the term steadfast love. I gave this phrase thought all day, why does God's love have to be steadfast?

I really enjoy watching the Michigan State Spartans play american football. I cheer for them in the big 10 (25) conference. Except when they play the University of Michigan Wolverines. Then I will support the Wolverines above the Spartans. Why? Cause my whole family is Wolverines fans. I love the Wolverines. I have an unmovable, steadfast love for U of M.

What if God's love wasn't steadfast? He might only love us half the time, He might only love us when we are doing good (beating State). Here is the deal about God's love, it's not going anywhere. His mind is stayed on you! He thinketh upon thee! He doesn't love you when you are good, or when He feels like it, His love is steadfast like a rock. I hope we all can thank God for His steadfast love for us!
